Tiny Citrus, Big Flavour
Australian Grown Ironbark Cumquats
A Little Fruit with a lot of Personality
Cumquats are small, vibrant citrus fruits that pack a surprising punch. Unlike other citrus, cumquats are eaten whole, skin and all. The thin, sweet peel contrasts beautifully with the tart, juicy flesh inside, creating a unique flavour experience in every bite.
At Ironbark Citrus, we grow two standout varieties; Nagami and Meiwa, both chosen for their flavour, hardiness, and versatility. Whether you're snacking straight from the tree, preserving them in syrup, or using them in cocktails, cumquats offer endless culinary potential.

Varieties Grown at Ironbark Citrus
Nagami Cumquat (May – August)
The classic cumquat variety and a favourite among chefs and home cooks alike.
Nagami cumquats are oval-shaped with a bright orange skin. Their tangy, slightly sour flesh is beautifully balanced by their sweet, edible peel. They’re ideal for preserving, candying, or adding a bold citrus twist to both sweet and savoury dishes.
Flavour: Bold and zesty with a sweet skin and tart interior
Best for: Marmalade, candied cumquats, pickling, cocktails, citrus sauces
Season: Fresh from May through to August
Meiwa Cumquat
Sweeter and rounder than the Nagami, Meiwa cumquats are a treat for fresh eating. They’re less tart, with a more balanced sweet-to-sour ratio and a juicy, tender texture. This variety is perfect for anyone new to cumquats or for those who enjoy eating them straight from the fruit bowl.
Flavour: Mild, sweet, and less acidic than other varieties
Best for: Snacking, fruit salads, preserving in syrup, desserts
